Septs of Grief
First, isolate it.
Second, use your fiery anger to force it out.
Then, try to analyze it cold-heartedly and rationally in detail.
If there is nothing you can do,
play a pity card and see if it has sympathy for you?
You are leaving and not coming back again.
My grief at you stays, leaving distinctive marks
and not knowing how to go away.
Every life goes through the similar process of birth, dying, sickness and death. The process might seem similar, but each life is uniquely its own. How would you look back on your life? If possible, what object do you want to transform into to let your spirit stay on in the world? Is it possible to use objects to demonstrate the moments of one’s life? These are the questions that Septs of Grief attempts to answer.
Objects have a silent existence. They don’t express themselves and never engage in debates. During the process of being touched, used, damaged and worn down, objects serve as a recorder of events and their traces. They reveal all the events big and small. In this work, we go back and forth between the physical objects and what they symbolize. Through selection and arrangement, we create a private ritual of good-bye and disappearance.
